Reader accounts

Account information supports sign-in, reader preferences, saved articles and participation. Public contributor biographies are separate from private account profiles and do not expose account email addresses.

Newsletter interest

Newsletter registration collects contact details and consent separately from account creation. It records interest in a future newsletter; registration is not a paid subscription. Account holders can manage their newsletter preference in their account.

Editorial information

Manuscripts, reviews and editorial assignments are available only through the applicable private workflows. Manuscript downloads use time-limited links. Reader error reports are not part of public article responses.

Public participation

Comments posted by signed-in readers display the name associated with the comment. Avoid including private or sensitive information in public comments.

Browser storage and external services

Reading preferences and audio position are stored in your browser. External links and embedded media, when opened, may be subject to the policies of their respective providers. Clearing browser storage removes locally stored preferences.
